Finishing touches to my office

These images are after I've added in the references to my journals...

Looking down from the middle to bottom floor, with the installation of the Rassegna journal

Looking at the space, over the mezzanine area

Going back... how you would first see the office as you just walk in the building
On the way down the ramp from the middle floor

How you first see the bottom floor (I really like it how you can immediately see the Rassegna cover, with a real glow coming out of the light areas)

lastly, the top floor conference room (this view isn't a very nice one, but it was to show the Housing Works cover')

Wednesday 23rd June 2010

I made a texture!! Based on the floor of the museum that was featured in the ARQ journal. I thought it might look quite good in some part of my office.

I also altered it and made it an alpha channel for another texture that could act as a window. I felt it would probably look a bit out of place if it was used only ever once.

The application of my texture in the middle floor... and you can see it's related to the ARQ journal! I quite like this space; everything seems to fit together quite well - even though the chairs seem very simple, I think it fits in to the whole environment quite well. (And please don't mind my avatar... her clothes weren't loading properly... ==)

This is how my office looks now... I've played with more textures, and even applied my second texture to the roof.

My office from a lower level - you can see the interior quite well, and the bottom floor does indeed look very much like a capsule!

I felt the bottom floor was starting to lose its 'underground' look, with so many semi-transparent surfaces, and starting to deiviate from the original idea. So I decided to make a wall more solid...

Comparison of the view from inside...

With the whole wall fully 'sealed up'

The view when you look above again, since I changed it a little bit. I feel this development looks much better than the one before (with the straight flat window)

Looking down from the middle floor again (since i've changed the texture etc.)

My office! The bottom floor still reminds me of a capsule

A few more alterations done on the office, such as the texture and colour applied to the furniture in the top storey. You can also notice the use of the second texture as a window beside the entrance to the 'main' middle floor.

up in the top level, looking at the view.

...not every view is very pleasant... Very nice to notice, though, that the roof of the lower levels does not obscure the view up here.

This is what you would see if you looked up from the bottom floor.

Looking at the space in the middle floor... still haven't figured out how to patch up that gap in the wall...

Looking at the window at the far end, and what it allows you to see beyond...

An exterior view of my office so far... after getting rid of the very steep ramp up to the top floor.

I added a little teleport object to the top floor; having such a steep ramp is a bit impractical...

What someone would be able to see when they look into the office....

The office is coming together quite nicely. I made the bottom area have some more transparent walls, so they can look out across the water. I think it vaguely resembles a kind of capsule at this point!

Monday 21st June 2010

Further development of the office, mainly in the bottom floor.

Floor has been made more transparent, to see the water. To the right you can see that i'm still experimenting with texture to make it more 'underground-like'
Middle floor level

office with roof added

From another angle

View from the ramp that leads down to the middle floor. ...that window looks a bit odd...

Down in the middle floor level - I've altered it a bit to accomodate for the ramp leading down to the third level.

This is what you would see if you looked over the rail...

Looking at the space in the bottom floor.

Looking back up toward the ramp. The middle object there is a table for discussing conferences over (again, obviously, not yet completed).

Saturday 19th June 2010

Now i'm trying to actually make the office more 'underground-like', and am playing around with the roof of the bottom floor. I thought something more circular would seem more cave-like, as it does not seem so artificial as straight edges...

Playing with the texture... though I don't plan to focus on them until I really get the form sorted... It was really hard to get a ramp going down that wasn't too steep...

Finally, an alternative!

Top view
Decided to make the bottom level bigger and more circular...
looking from afar...
Initial look of the lower conference room. Will need patching up on the walls... Hehe
Exterior of the office so far... It's starting to look quite round

Friday 18th June 2010

This is how the top floor turned out: with a table for group conferences/discussions, and a wall so people don't fall off the level onto the ramp leading down.

View from outside. I've added a more transparent side to the 'tunnel' so people won't feel so claustrophobic, and it also allows more light in. Also, ramp rails have been added in.

View of office from other side.

Notice how the bottom part of the more transparent side is 'shorter'; this allows you to actually walk into the 'room' (which is not yet completed, obviously)
